A Hazy Kaanal (Mirage)
I think the title really speaks for the track on this one. The listening experience really did feel hazy, sort of like a Mirage ('Kaanal' in Tamil), but I feel this works against the track a bit. While clearly a vocal-centric production, there were these little trinkets of audio scattered across the mid-range ("mids") - piano, pads, etc. (couldn't identify most of them) - that got washed out by the heavy reverb and compression(?) on the vocals. These would have added a lot to the instrumental if accentuated more. But hey, stylistic preferences, amirite?🤷🏽♂️
On a more positive note, the Tabla - Konnakol combo was a nice touch, keeping things interesting and adding flavour to the otherwise simple electronic beat. A [7.58/10] awarded!
